Counselling & Psychotherapy in London & Norfolk
About me
My name is David Tyrrell. The primary form of therapy that I use is called Person - Centred counselling. This enables clients to discuss their problems, fears and needs at their own pace, so that healing may come from within themselves. What I undertake is to facilitate this process of self exploration in order for clients to gain insight into their problems. This takes place without the fear of being judged or labelled.
I have an integrative approach to counselling in that I also offer another therapy using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). This works best with time limited counselling of up to 12 sessions. It is especially useful with phobias and compulsive disorders. At all times I ensure client confidentiality.
My background is in Social Science where I studied and researched Philosophy, Psychology, and medical Sociology. It is from this background that I became interested in becoming a therapist.
I hold the following qualifications
- B.A (Hons) Sociology
- Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. University of East Anglia
- Certificate in counselling skills. University of East Anglia
- CBT Skills. University of East Anglia
I have worked as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings and now in private practice. Counselling both individuals and couples aged 19 and over who have presented a wide range of issues.
My initial training has been in Person-Centred Counselling, sometimes referred to as Rogerian or Client-Centred. I hold a post graduate diploma in Person-Centred therapy which is recognised by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am a member of the BACP and work in accordance with their regulations. I have supervision in accordance with BACP recommendations and have full professional indemnity insurance. I work from professional consulting rooms that offer a calm and peaceful environment.
It is important for clients to feel secure and in a safe space when engaged in therapy. All my communication with clients whether face to face, by phone or email will be in the strictest confidence.
